From the Kentucky Derby to Cinco de Mayo, this upcoming week is sure to be filled with big hats and refreshing cocktails. While going out will bring you to the center of festivities, staying in will give you a chance to impress — especially with these fabulous Cinco de Mayo recipes from some of our favorite South Florida restaurants. Now it’s your turn to step into the kitchen and whip up some incredible cocktails — and you can even pretend they’re your own. We promise, we won’t tell.
Mezclado Unido

Yields 1 cocktail
Ingredients
1½ oz. Vida mezcal
½ oz. Ancho Reyes
½ oz. Aperol
½ oz. Lime Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
2 Fresh Grapefruit segments
Fresh Basil (a few sprigs)
Club Soda (topper)
Directions
Muddle the grapefruit and basil. Add mescal, Ancho Reyes, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake and strain into Highball glass. Top off with Club soda and garnish with fresh basil sprig.

Yields 1 cocktail
Ingredients
2 oz. Jalapeño Infused Cabo Wabo Tequila
½ oz. Agave Nectar
2 Cucumber Slices
1 Lime
Directions
Muddle 2 cucumber slices and agave nectar together. Add ice, Jalapeño infused Cabo Wabo tequila and squeeze the entire lime. Shake, strain and serve over ice in a Rocks glass. Float a paper thin slice of cucumber on top of drink for an optional garnish.
Cilantro Margarita

Yields 1 cocktail
Ingredients
1½ oz. Casa Dragones Blanco
¾ oz. Cointreau
¾ oz. Lime Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
Handful of Fresh Cilantro
Pinch of salt
Directions
Muddle cilantro, add Casa Dragones Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice, salt, and simple syrup. Blend ingredients briefly, then strain through a tea strainer and shake before serving in a traditional Margarita glass.
Jalapaloma
Recipe from Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House in Dallas, TX
Yields 1 cocktail
Ingredients
1 ½ oz. Blue Nectar Silver, infused with Jalapeno
½ oz. Grand Marnier
1 jalapeno
½ oz. lime juice
¾ oz. agave nectar
2 oz. grapefruit juice
Crushed orange slice
Chop jalapeño and infuse using Blue Nectar’s method. Add infused tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice, agave nectar, and grapefruit juice to a shaker. Shake well. Garnish with an orange slice.
