Sweet Indulgences … sometimes, you can’t pass them up. Like the day when I trekked over to Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York and had my very first Cronut. In addition to devouring the Cronut, we quickly finished the Magic Soufflé and a myriad of other Ansel creations. It’s an all or nothing kind of deal. From a sugar high to a low — it was worth every bite.
When I heard about PGA National’s upcoming Sweet Treat weekend, I took a trip back in time — and knew that every other sweet treat lover would welcome this weekend to indulge and perhaps, get the sugar high that I remembered.
The weekend kicks off on Fri., August 8th with the “Chocolate Affair at iBar,” taking place from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Guests will indulge in an all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet with flowing milk and white chocolate fountains, gourmet s’mores and popcorn station, ice cream designer wine and their signature — Bear Trap Ice Cream. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.
On Sat., August 9th, head to PGA for The Great Cupcake Challenge, where dessert lovers will help to create the “World’s Largest Cupcake Wedding Cake.” Expect a 12-ft cupcake creation (large enough to break the Guinness Book of World record). Families are invited in from noon – 4:00 p.m., to help in the cake building and decorating — and helpers can dig in when the building is completed. Cost is $30 in advance for families (which includes a cupcake decorating kit and 18 cupcakes) or $35 at the door. Additional family-friendly activities will take place during this time.
The weekend finishes off with “The Big Taste” on Sunday from noon until 3;00 p.m. For just $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and unders, attendees are sure to enjoy The Big Taste Ice Cream Social, where over 40 gourmet varieties of gelato, sorbet and ice cream flavors will be featured, along with creative toppings. From 2:30 – 3:00 p.m., enjoy watching your favorite local celebrities participate in an ice cream eating contest.
To go along with the sweetness taking place, PGA National will offer a Sweet Re-Treat spa menu during the months of August and September. Think — Chocolate Affair Massage. Yes, I’m there — and there’s even options for the kids like the Ice Cream Manicure + Pedicure.
PGA National Resort & Spa is located at 400 Avenue of the Champions in Palm Beach Gardens.
