It’s time to liven up your Saturday night with an evening of creative cocktails, gourmet bites and live music. The destination — PB Catch in Palm Beach. This Palm Beach dining hotspot — owned by the same team that owns Pistache — has been known for serving up a menu of fresh, local seafood beautifully prepared. Now, they’re set to become your new Saturday night hangout.
We stopped by to experience their new ‘Saturday Nights in the Lounge’ and instantly knew this is soon to become a favorite of ours. The atmosphere is hip, yet relaxed; the volume is perfect for carrying on a conversation; and they just launched a new bar and cocktail menu that will have your taste buds singing in delight.
To start off, treat yourself to a specialty cocktail, hand-crafted by mixologist, Nick Scalisi ($10-$14). While we find most cocktails to be too sweet, these were well-balanced and used fresh herbs and botanicals that were to our liking. Our favorite of the evening was the PB Spice made with Red Hot Vodka, Pineapple-Sage Infusion & Jalapeno, though don’t be turned off by the spice, as the combination of ingredients made the spice magically disappear. New Times even snagged a recipe of the PB Spice and you can find it here. Other highlights on the cocktail list include a Blackberry Mint Gin & Tonic and a Hibiscus Viola Martini.
What outing is complete without a tour of the menu? The new bar menu is made of small plates meant for sharing so we were able to sample a myriad of the restaurant’s signature items — and we were immediately drawn to the section of Sea-Cuterie Plates. Although you’re probably familiar with plates of charcuterie generally made up of meat items, seafood charcuterie or Sea-Cuterie has gained popularity over the last year — and Nation’s Restaurant News claims it is the “next big trend in dining.” We hadn’t seen it on a menu in Palm Beach County — until we discovered it at PB Catch. The Sea-Cuterie menu is available for $16 for your choice of 3 or $29 for your choice of 6 – and guests can taste their way through the available options. Our favorite was the Octopus Torchon with chorizo and pickled sweet corn.
Another draw on the menu for us was the section of Oshi-Sushi. Oshi-Sushi — also known as oishi sushi or sushi by yoshi — differs from your typical sushi roll, as it is pressed rather than rolled. This allows for it to be made much more quickly and creatively. We sampled the Oshi Tuna Roll ($14) made with red tuna, avocado, sesame, masago and yuzu aioli — and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
In addition to serving up a fantastic dinner menu 7 days a week and their new ‘Saturday Night in the Lounge’ promotion, PB Catch also offers a great happy hour from 4:30-6:30 p.m. where you can enjoy 2-for-1 drinks and $1 oysters.
PB Catch is located at 251 Sunrise Ave, Palm Beach; (561) 655-5558
