Nitrogen Bar, Grill, and Sushi Restaurant Review
From steak to maki, from wine to sake, Nitrogen Bar, Grill, and Sushi is poised to please discerning Palm Beach County foodies. This open kitchen restaurant, in the coastal town of Jupiter, is helmed by Chef Juan F. Toledo and his talented team.
Entering the Nitrogen Bar, Grill, and Sushi for my dining invitation, the rustic, but elegant décor belied its ordinary shopping plaza location. The open kitchen is set back from dining room and the long bar is partitioned off to the right of the entrance. Once seated, it was difficult to make a selection, -not just because the restaurant is darkly lit, but for Chef Toledo’s extensive menu.
As an excellent starter, I recommend the Duck Confit Dumplings. The French preparation renders the duck meat tender, moist, and extremely flavorful. Also tucked inside the row of four dumplings is goat cheese, wild mushrooms, and sage, which are then drizzled with a spicy chipotle-raspberry sauce.
Hardy steak lovers will appreciate the high quality A5 Dry Aged Wagyu NY Strip entrée. The richly flavored and tender dry aged Wagyu steak arrives sliced over shaved Brussel sprouts, Pink Oyster mushrooms and Sake Shiitake mushrooms, which are caramelized in a black garlic reduction glaze. This over-the-top dish is, then, finished with a topping of crunchy Blue potatoes ribbon strips.
However, if you want to save room for one of Pastry Chef Thomas Chalcu’s sweet creations, consider a lighter main course such as Sushi Chef Justin Zhang’s Nitrogen Make. This exceptional specialty roll has salmon, tuna, masago, cucumber, and cilantro that is rolled in white sushi rice. To finish, the roll is crowned with hamachi, avocado, and jalapeno rings, and drizzled with ponzu sauce.
For dessert, you will have difficult choices to make, such has Chocolate Mousse – Chipotle made with togarashi spiced dark chocolate mousse and Apple wood smoked bacon –yum!
Another excellent option is the Cheesecake Spring Rolls –vanilla bean cheesecake, dabbled with Nutella, wrapped up tight and thin inside cinnamon-sugar coated rice paper, and served with a banana-caramel dipping sauce.
