New Miami Eatery Opening – ONO POKE SHOP
Ono Poke Shop, opened recently in Wynwood by local, young entrepreneur, Nuriel Mawardi, is the first eatery in Miami’s trend-forward neighborhood to offer authentic poké. Pronounced POKE-AY, this fresh, raw fish salad is commonplace in Hawaii as a snack, or over rice, as light and quick meal. Traditionally, poke is chunks of tuna marinated in soy and sesame. Think Hawaiian-style ceviche, but bold and savory, instead of acidic.
Ono Poke Shop has a seasoned sushi chef, Amir Anvari, with a four-year tenure at Miami’s top sushi restaurant, Makoto. Chef Amir serves this Hawaiian delicacy with a Japanese twist, – and a commitment to using only the highest quality fish that is fresh and never frozen.
At the fast-casual poke bar counter, guests can order from a selection of signature poke bowls, or handpick top-shelf, sushi-grade fish and innovative toppings, like Yuzu Tobiko (yellow-hued flying fish roe), spicy Red Wakame (seaweed), and Quail Eggs, to create customized bowls.
Menu highlights include:
- Ono Spicy Tuna Bowl, with housemade spicy tuna mix, pickled cucumber, red onion, jalapeño, Asian micro greens, wasabi aioli, and eel sauce.
- Ono Salmon Bagel Bowl, featuring ora king salmon, pickled cucumber, red onion, capers, scallion, wasabi aioli, and eel sauce.
- Ono Kani Bowl, with osaki crab, wakame salad, avocado, yuzu tobiko, fried scallion, wasabi aioli, and eel sauce.
Bowls cost $13 for a small and $16 for large; all are made to order. Hours of operation are Monday through Sunday, from 12 PM to 8 PM.
Ono Poke Shop is located at 2320 North Miami Avenue, Miami, FL 33127.
