We’ve made it through Miami Spice, Flavor Palm Beach, and have been surrounded by summer specials. Although most of these specials have ended, diners in Broward County have something to raise their glass for. It’s just the beginning of Dine Out Lauderdale. This annual event is similar to it’s counterparts (ie. Miami Spice and Flavor Palm Beach), and offers some fantastic prix-fixe dinner specials for just $35.
Grab some friends, plan a date night or venture off on your own — now’s your time to discover new restaurants. With over 40 restaurants participating, you are sure to find one to your liking. Some of our favorites include The Capital Grille, Amatsu, Steak 954 and Thasos Greek Taverna.
When October 1st rolled around, we were excited to begin our journey and headed down to The Capital Grille (okay, we were invited in, making it even better). We checked in, were guided to our seats and moments later, when 2 glasses of wine were placed before us, we knew we were in for a treat.
While some restaurants seem to skimp on portion size and/or the quality of food, The Capital Grille does not. You will be getting the exact same thing you would, as if you ordered off the regular menu. The Dine Out menu also features some of their signature dishes — Filet Mignon, Citrus Seared Salmon, Bone-in Dry Aged Sirloin Steak – so your taste buds and wallet will both be happy.
For the 1st course, you can select a Caesar Salad, Field Greens Salad or a bowl of Clam Chowder. We opted for the two salads. Both were plentiful in size, came with fresh garden greens and were melded together with a light dressing.
Next up, the juicy steaks and succulent seafood that we’d been awaiting. Diners can choose between an 8-oz Filet Mignon; Breast of Chicken Confit; Bone-In Dry Aged Sirloin Steak (14-oz); Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon; and Parmesan and Herb Marinated Tournedos. Entrees came with the choice of 1 side – either Sam’s Mashed Potatoes or French Green Beans with Shallots & Heirloom Tomatoes. There were also a few options available for a slight upcharge.
We tried both the Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon (shown above) and the Bone-In Dry Aged Sirloin Steak. While it took us some time to snap our photos (yes, we’re definitely photo obsessed) and take our first bite, once we did, happiness surrounded us. Both of these dishes were prepared perfectly — something that The Capital Grille is known for. Every time I visit any of their locations, I am always overly impressed. The food, the quality of the wine and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are always spot on — a great reason to return time and time again.
Last, but not least, it was time for dessert and we eagerly awaited both the Classic Crème Brulee and the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake (good thing there were two of us). It was a tough call on what was our favorite — the luscious custard with the crispy sugar topping or the rich and decadent Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake — so we just enjoyed them both spoonful by spoonful.
The Capital Grille is located at 2430 E Sunrise Blvd in the Galleria in Fort Lauderdale; 954-446-2000
