COYA Miami Sunday Brunch Review
COYA Miami is an exotically beautiful oasis in the middle of downtown Miami, serving delectable and modern Peruvian cuisine with traditional ingredients. Coya’s Magic City location joins the Mayfair (London) and Dubai private supper clubs, but welcomes visitors to its enchanting Main Dining Room and Pisco Bar.
We experienced this firsthand after accepting COYA Miami’s invitation to their newly returned Sunday brunch.
Our Sunday Funday started off blissfully with four large fresh oysters to share. Fat and zesty, they were deliciously spiced with ginger dressing.
Before bountiful small plates, included the brunch, arrived to our table, we considered Coya’s bottomless wine options, from rosé to Krug ‘Grand Cuvee’ champagne. However, we were too enticed by the variety of Peruvian inspired brunch cocktails, such as the potent Chilcano De Piña (pineapple pisco & ginger ale) or the sassy Spice Me Up (Prosecco, fresh mango juice & aji limo).
For traditionalists, try the elegant and fiery Bloody Mary-A, with the choice of Belvedere vodka or Avion silver tequila.
Soon, several small plates para empezar covered our entire dining table, – from rock shrimp to pulled pork. Our favorites included the Branzino Criollo – Mediterranean sea bass brilliantly marinated in bright yellow and peppery hot aji Amarillo, and sprinkled with crispy corn and fresh cilantro,
Rollo De Salmón –Beautiful, bright pink salmon sushi rolls spiced up by ají Amarillo, and filled with rich cream cheese,
Quinoa Chaufa –Wok fried quinoa with seasonal vegetables and crunchy cashews, and the delectable grilled corn rolled in chili butter, or Maíz A La Parrilla.
Main entrée selections included Peruvian roast chicken and Solomillo De Res – Beef Wellington, Peruvian-style, with star anise and crispy shallots.
We feasted on Bogavante -One half of a small lobster, where the grilled sweet meat is lightly coated in chimichurri sauce and lobster oil, and Dorada A La Brasa – Grilled until golden Sea Bream, a delicate white fish, served with a roasted fingerling potato and fennel salad.
Freshly made desserts available for the day included a decadent Hazelnut – Chocolate Ganache and delicious and super-moist Pumpkin Cheesecake.
We toasted to the end of an extravagant brunch with one final brunch cocktail, -the exquisite Algarrobina In The Tropics -A blend of Macchu Pisco Quebranta, cold-brew coffee and Peruvian algarrobina (carob syrup), with a foamy top of coconut cream.
TIP: Treat yourself during the hectic work week with Coya Miami’s Power Lunch – A blissfull three course meal for $29.
