CHE Delray Beach Restaurant Review
CHE !!!, an established dining concept from Spain, featuring Argentinian and Spanish cuisines, has chosen to open its first US restaurant in the South Florida resort town of Delray Beach. Situated on the intercoastal waterway, the expansive, open-spaced steakhouse has a simple white-washed rustic decor, and offers a gorgeous waterfront view from its 280-seat outdoor dining patio.
Che is a common expression in Argentina, and mainly used as affectionate slang for friend, and translates in English as “bro” or “dude”.
We recently were invited to dine, and appreciate CHE’s cordial atmosphere. We started with the Saffron Mussels. The steamed black mussels were bathed in lovely light and mild saffron cream sauce, and served in a shareable bowl with grilled and buttered bread slices.
For the main course, I naturally had to order the steakhouse’s specialty -Argentinian Parrillada. Parrillada is a meal of a variety of meats that are grilled or barbecued. From the many cuts of grilled beef on the menu, I selected the Bife De Chorizo Buenos Aires.
The thick and juicy 12 ounce Prime New York Strip was served chimichurri sauce, which I replaced with CHE’s awesome creamy black peppercorn sauce. The sizeable dish included a vegetable medley of roasted peppers and sweet peas and seasoned steak fries as sides.
For dessert, I couldn’t resist the wonderful Argentinian Panqueques. Thin, rolled French-style crepe pancakes filled with warm dulce de leche, (sweet caramel sauce), topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and garnished with fresh strawberries.
