If you can’t escape to Italy, bring Italy to Miami — that’s what the Graspa Group did with Salumeria 104. A salumeria is an Italian delicatessan, where you can get your fill of cured meats, and in more recent times — a variety of cheeses. Think — meat heaven. Salumeria 104 brings this Italian concept to Midtown and combines it with a trattoria, where you can find an exquisite menu of clean and simple dishes.
I stopped by on a recent afternoon, and the place was bustling. I quickly found out why — the combination of Angelo Masarin (Casa Tua, Cecconi’s); Carlo Donadoni and Graziano Sbroggio of TiramesU, Spris and Soyka — is a match made in foodie heaven. While you can easily go for simple dishes, like enjoying a plate of the delicious meats and cheeses, the rest of the menu should not be overlooked. Our favorites were the Farretto ($9), a salad of farro, goat cheese, roasted fennel & asparagus; Stracchino e Belga ($9), grilled endive with Stracchino cheese, crispy Prosciutto and a balsamic fig reduction; and the do-not-miss Ravioli di Prosicutto ($16), freshly made ravioli filled with Prosciutto and ricotta, and sauteed with oyster mushrooms.
This one’s on our must-return-here-soon list.
Salumeria 104 is located 3451 NE 1st Avenue, Miami (305) 424-9588; Our advice — go on a Tuesday night (May 2012 – October 2012) and you’ll enjoy bottles of wine for half-price.
