Surfside Launches First Fridays Beach Picnics
The Town of Surfside is hosting a laid-back Moroccan Beach Picnic to kick-off the town’s monthly First Fridays event on Friday, May 5. First Fridays is free and open to the public.
Unlike any other community event, this casual soiree takes place on Surfside’s pristine beach and is a great way to experience the ever-evolving area like a local. Enjoy live Middle Eastern music, belly dancers, drum circle and tipi village for kids, cold-pressed juices, coconut water courtesy of Harmless Harvest, and healthy snacks.
For a hint of beachside couture, luxury women’s fashion boutique, Le Beau Moroc, plans to showcase new seasonal Moroccan designs during a fashion show on the sand. Not to mention, guests can take refuge from the sun under ornately designed oversized tents.
The Moroccan Beach Picnic is scheduled for 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on May 5, 2017 at the Oceanfront Community Center, located at 9301 Harding Avenue in Surfside, FL.
This is the first of a series of four events, which will be held every first Friday of the month, from May until August. Additional events include: a Caribbean-themed picnic with a Bahamian junkanoo band (June 2); Americana-style picnic with s’mores, American folklore storyteller, haystack maze on the beach and more (July 7); August gives rise to Bollywood with Indian food, henna tattoos, and Bollywood dancers (August 4.)
