Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 18th and tune into NBC for The Today Show. In the spotlight will be Executive Chef Timon Balloo of SUGARCANE raw bar grill, who is known for taking flavors & ingredients from his childhood (he was born to Chinese & Trinidadian parents) and highlighting them on the menu in unique and unlikely ways. Another claim to fame for Timon is his Whole Roast Chicken with truffle potatoes and a favorite of mine, Torrejas with sauteed apples and maple butter sauce (seen above), both of which appeared on The Today Show last spring. We even discovered some recipes for you.
This year, Chef Timon will demonstrate to viewers a new dish, a one pot meal that melds together the flavors and techniques he experienced growing up.
So, sit back, relax and get ready to learn to prepare a new dish with a Miami favorite. While The Today Show begins at 7:00 a.m., Timon will appear in the 9:00 a.m. hour.
