BIRD & BONE at The Confidante Hotel
Miami Beach’s popular lifestyle hotel, The Confidante, has teamed up with Chef Richard Hales to present a new restaurant concept on February 2017: Bird & Bone, however, it is now open during Art Basel Miami for breakfast and dinner previews.
Known for his successful midtown Miami restaurants Sakaya Kitchen and Blackbrick Chinese, Hales will source a menu that reflects the heart and soul of traditional country cuisine from independent small farms and organic butchers, touching on his passion for Southern dining..
The American-inspired menu will feature daily specials like the aptly named “Bone of the Day” and “Bird of the Day. Menu highlights will include Slow Roasted Lamb Ribs with White BBQ Sauce, Charred Cauliflower, Cayenne Pepper; and Mason Jar Snacks like Deviled Ham, Smoked Potato & Egg Salad, Pimento Cheese and Oxtail with Benne Seed Wafers. Desserts will be a twist on Southern classics by Chef Hales’ wife, Jenny Hales, including Bourbon Cake with Cinnamon Whipped Cream topped with Candied Pecans.

Upland
Chef Justin Smillie, known for his stunning California-inspired cuisine, and famed restaurateur Stephen Starr whose portfolio features some of the nation’s most exciting restaurants from New York to South Florida, opened a second outpost of Upland in South Beach.
Situated at the southernmost end of Collins Avenue, Upland features indoor and outdoor seating and a gorgeous modern bistro setting with an open exhibition kitchen. Design elements — including walls lined with wine and preserved lemons and artichokes – pay homage to Upland’s New York City counterpart. To close off Art Basel Miami 2016, STK Miami will be hosting the debut of its Sunday brunch on December 4. Located in the ME Miami hotel, at a central location from the Art Basel Miami madness, the vibe-driven steakhouse is the perfect place to cure the week’s inevitable hangover.
